In Surrey we offer the best possible support and career opportunities for all our social work staff. As part of this support, we have established a Social Worker Development Programme to offer support to Newly Qualified Social Workers in the North East Area through a structured programme of induction and supported practice, skills development and learning.
Working alongside the fieldwork teams, workers will have the opportunity to undertake direct practice shadowing and training, with a reduced caseload enabling theory and practice to become aligned. You will be part of the programme for 1 year, following which you will be transferred to practice in our North East Area Team.
As a Newly Qualified Social Worker for Surrey you will receive regular high quality supervision, supported by a comprehensive training package and strong and visible leadership. In Sept 2012 Ofsted concluded that Social Workers in Surrey express positive regard for their managers and describe an organisational culture that is open, child centred and founded on trust.
All this helps to ensure that our staff deliver high quality social work services which make a real difference to some of the most vulnerable children in Surrey.
In addition we are able to offer one of the best salary and benefits packages nationally; you will be part of our new career progression framework, receive 28 days Annual Leave + Bank Holidays, training and development opportunities with our STARS courses and many more benefits such as final salary pension, childcare vouchers and flexible working.
Our teams are based in modern open plan offices in Surrey’s main town centres: Woking, Guildford, Leatherhead and Redhill. Surrey’s Social Worker Development Programme will be based at our Leatherhead office. The children’s social care services are broken into four areas: Duty and Assessment, Child Protection and Court Proceedings, Looked after Children, and Children in Need.
To apply for a position in our development programme you must: hold a Social Work qualification, be HCPC registered, hold a valid UK drivers licence and have access to a vehicle. To apply for a role in the development programme please complete an online application form.
To discuss the benefits of joining Surrey, or for more information please contact James Beardall (Care Services Manager) on 01932 794384 or Geoff Joddrell (HR Project Advisor) on 0208 541 7162.
An enhanced DBS disclosure with Children’s and Adults’ Barred List check will be required for this role. Surrey County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
We want to be an inclusive and diverse employer of first choice, reflecting the community we serve and particularly welcome applications from all under-represented groups.
