Offender Managers (Band 4) Countywide full and part time opportunities

Essex Probation is a high performing organisation – We employ 500 staff serving a population of 1.6 million and have the challenging task of reducing re-offending to make Essex a safer place. We currently have opportunities for Offender Managers (qualified Probation Officers) to join our teams across the County.

We would welcome applications from candidates who have recently or are shortly due to qualify.

You will work directly with offenders – managing, supervising and enforcing Community Orders, licences and parole licences for all high risk/dangerous offender cases. You will assess offender needs to achieve community reintegration, monitor their progress and help them to achieve successful completion of orders, prepare documentation and assess their risk to the public.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work in an innovative and developmental environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Your role will include the preparation of pre-sentence reports, and liaison with specialist agencies, you may also deliver group and 1:1 programmes. In common with other team members you will also have the opportunity to develop practice initiatives.

Essex is a high employment area and there is an expectation that operational staff work some evenings and weekends to meet the needs of offenders.

You will be required to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, sound judgement, and an ability to resolve complex problems.

The Diploma in Probation Studies, CQSW or equivalent qualification is essential for all posts.
