OPERATIONS MANAGER New Adult Social Care Service
2 × 12 Month Fixed Term Contract Location: Central London
Salary: PO5 – £40,506 – £43,152
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Operations Manager to join our management team for the newly reorganised adult social care service.
This is a dynamic service which puts the customer at the heart of service delivery, providing excellent adult social care practice, which promotes independence, choice and control and offers advice, care and support to a range of vulnerable adults with social care needs in the borough.
A professionally confident and proactive manager, you will be capable of implementing simple and efficient ways of working ensuring all customers get a responsive, proportionate service and, wherever possible, a timely resolution of their needs.
Your key focus will be on developing a good understanding of the demand coming into the service and the efficient, throughput of work at the same time ensuring customers are kept informed of progress and wherever possible are able to manage their own care and support.
You will work collaboratively with Service Managers and Lead Practitioners as part of an extended management team to ensure the development of good practice and to make sure the right skills are available in the different teams as the needs of the service require. You will review progress against agreed measures taking a lead to identify and introduce improvements to systems where necessary.
You will support and line manage a team of staff from different backgrounds (eg Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Outreach Workers and Access and Support Workers) delivering against the operational principles of the service and working collaboratively for the benefit of customers.
You will always be looking for opportunities to simplify the service; to ensure a flexible response for customers and to highlight and address delays identified whether caused by internal systems or the involvement of external partners.
Key Requirements
- relevant professional qualification and/or equivalent gained through experience and/or degree in management/business
- experience of people management and team building (including management theory and evidence of its application)
- experience of budgetary control and management of resources
- understanding of the role and organisation of partner agencies such as health, housing and the voluntary and community sector so as to advise and support customers
- understanding of local care and support resources/options for adult social care customers and their carers and where to find these
- experience of effective application of up-to-date knowledge of social care and health legislation and best practice guidance to complex cases
- positive risk taking, risk assessment/management and safeguarding adults and an ability to put this into effect
- the ability to collaborate effectively, demonstrating mutual trust and support, within the organisation and with partners facilitating integrated working
- the ability to take responsibility for own work consistently achieving and delivering to time and quality despite tight and conflicting priorities
- the ability to drive performance improvement within the team to achieve excellence as standard.
