A support worker is required to support a 17 year old boy with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) with connected learning, communication and behaviour problems. You will care for the young person in the family home and support him on activities outside the home. For the majority of your time you will be working alone with the young person.
It would be beneficial if you lived locally to Bracknell and have a full clean driving licence.
We need a carer to work regular hours from 2pm- 4pm Monday to Friday with additional hours on offer during the school holidays. your responsibilities will be to be here when transport drops him off from school and work with him doing life skills in the family home. This may include cooking, cleaning, going for walks, shopping etc.
The young person enjoys playing on the computer,railway stations, churches and visiting airports. You will need to be able to give clear instructions about any activities. You will be calm, engaging and confident when supporting the young person. You are to support the young person in all activities, prompting where necessary, keeping him safe and encouraging appropriate behaviour.
Experience of working with children with disabilities essential and further training can be provided. The young person has a history of challenging behaviour towards his sibling, however there is no history of this being directed at Support Workers. The family are looking to fill this vacancy as soon as possible.
