A key management position has become available within the well respected and innovative performance and knowledge management (PKM) team in the children schools and families directorate. The post will work together within a project based matrix structure in the PKM team. Your goals will include working to support and challenge services to deliver improving performance and quality with diminishing resources and delivering a demanding performance management routine that places as much emphasis on the gathering of intelligence and building action-oriented narratives as accurate, timely and useful figures. You will be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills with a sound analytical approach balanced by well-developed interpersonal and influencing skills that build credibility for yourself, the team and its products. You will also enjoy the opportunity to get involved with or lead knowledge management projects that aim to better use what we know to improve outcomes for children and deliver value for money. We have been recognised by Ofsted and others as demonstrating best practice in performance management and are active new members of the Henley Knowledge Management Forum. We are developing links with several universities and have an established culture of coaching within the authority as well as excellent opportunities for personal growth and professional development.

The post holder will work closely with the assistant director for schools and learning and the head of school effectiveness in our school improvement team to deliver detailed analyses on all matters of educational performance including the annual analysis of examination results at all key stages and the performance management framework for other aspects of education support. Key priorities in the coming year will be to review our performance analysis offer to schools in consultation with them, build on the excellent reputation of the analytical output of the team in support of the renewed school effectiveness plan, and deliver a number of key KM projects.
