TLR2A + SEN 1/2
We are looking for someone who is a committed and enthusiastic peripatetic teacher of the visually impaired to join a developing and forward thinking Service for the Visually Impaired.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and providing advice of visually impaired pupils in Newham schools. The successful candidate will need to have excellent oral and written communication skills and understand the barriers to access arrangements and learning that children and young people with a visual impairment face and how these barriers may be overcome. Specialist knowledge and experience with SEN or visually impaired is desirable. Knowledge and experience of working with complex needs (multiply disabled visually impaired) would be an advantage. The opportunity to performance manage staff is part of the role of this job. The successful candidate will need to have an ability to challenge, motivate and inspire teachers, teaching assistants, parents/carers and professionals across the Children and Young People’s Service. A commitment to inclusive education for all visually impaired pupils is required.
The TLR point is awarded for the development of curricula initiatives for visually impaired children and young people.

A qualified teacher of the visually impaired will be awarded SEN 2. Teachers wishing to undertake training will be considered ( SEN 1).
