Lancaster District comprises the historic city of Lancaster, the seaside resort of Morecambe, the port and residential area of Heysham and extensive rural areas, including the market town of Carnforth. Morecambe Bay is recognised for its international importance for birdlife and the District also accommodates 2 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is therefore a diverse district where economic regeneration and the protection of natural assets are important priorities.

As a member of the Council’s Development Management Team, which incorporates its planning and building regulation functions, you will play a key role in processing householder and medium-scale planning applications throughout the District.

The post offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience in an enthusiastic and dedicated Development Management Team. You will be given the opportunity to manage your own caseload of applications and be involved in pre-application discussions.

You should either have an appropriate planning qualification and relevant, recent experience of determining planning applications.
