Planning Officer

£29,424 - £35,070 (SO1 - PO1)

Full Time - Permanent

Hackney is London's most diverse, dynamic borough. Reaching from the Square Mile to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, this is an area of rapid economic growth, particularly in technology, media, fashion and other creative industries. We seek people with ambition, creativity and commitment to ensure our economic growth provides benefits for everyone and creates opportunities to transform the lives of residents.

The Council is looking for an enthusiastic Planner looking to progress their career and gain experience working in the Major applications team. The successful candidate will be involved in a full range of development management matters of strategic/significant importance to the borough including pre-application advice, preparing planning performance agreements, processing planning applications and appeals.

You will need a graduate or post graduate qualification in Town Planning (or equivalent) and will need to be a member of, or have eligibility for, the Royal Town Planning Institute. To be able to do this role, you must have a sound understanding of planning policy and legislation, and ideally some experience of viability, s106 and CIL issues.

This position offers excellent opportunities for career progression and the starting salary will depend on experience of the successful candidate.

At Hackney, we go that extra mile for our people; we offer a work environment which is stimulating, fast moving and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high profile organisation. If you share our values and are ready to be part of our exciting journey please apply now!

It is essential that you attach a supporting statement, addressing how your skills, knowledge and experience would enable you to meet all aspects of the post, as indicated in the Job Description and Person Specification.

We are passionate about equal opportunities and welcome a diversity of talent to apply.
