Planning Officer

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Planning Team. Initially you will be working in the Planning Policy Team and there will also be the opportunity to work in the Planning Applications team.

You will be closely involved in the preparation and production of our site allocations and development management policies DPD, which we will shortly be taking to examination in public. Other exciting projects that you will be working on include the transition to Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), implementing our town centre plan and other borough wide projects.

In the Planning Applications team, you will be dealing with a wide range of planning applications and appeals, giving advice to developers etc. and providing high quality customer care.

You will ideally have, or be progressing towards, full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) with a recognised degree or equivalent qualification or experience in planning.

You will be capable of critically assessing and analysing information, thinking outside the box and problem solving as part of the policy development process. You should also have the skills to manage a challenging workload and prepare robust recommendations in accordance with service targets. You should have good communication, negotiation, IT, report writing skills and a creative outlook with the ability to work as part of a team or independently.
