Dartford Borough Council and the Kent Thameside Regeneration Partnership are looking for an experienced assistant level PR professional to help develop and deliver the communications plan and activity for Kent Thameside, as well as helping to market the Kent Thameside region to attract inward investment, in partnership with other local organisations.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual seeking the next step in their PR career progression. The role encompasses corporate and destination communications, some public affairs activity, media relations, place marketing, and event management. The successful candidate will possess excellent written and communication skills, be able to deal confidently with local and national media contacts and our business partners. Evidence of developing news agendas alongside the ability to manage several projects simultaneously, will be key requirements of the role.

You will need to be able to assimilate relevant information extremely quickly and ensure effective, targeted and timely communications to key audiences, under the supervision of the Communications & Design Manager. Key tasks to be completed in the 12 month contract include:

1. Develop and implement the communications plan for Kent Thameside
2. Develop productive working relationships with target media and our partners
3. Prepare monthly media reports for Kent Thameside
4. Source and deliver newsworthy stories for the media and website
5. Selling in media stories which promote and enhance the Kent Thameside activities to local and national media
6. Write press releases and other media related material about Kent Thameside activities and programmes for a range of publicity uses
7. Be an active participant in the communications meetings with Kent Thameside, supporting their campaign aims and driving the development of the plan during the PR year
8. Day-to-day handling of the press office function

The post holder must have access to a car, along with a full British Driving License.
