LB Islington, Planning and Development POST TITLE: Principal Planner (Career Grade) - Planning Policy Team, 1 Full time permanent post, 1 Full time fixed term secondment cover for 12 Months. GRADE: This is a Career Grade post ranging from SO1 to PO4 grades; we are looking to appoint towards the upper end of the scale at grades PO3 – PO4 £36,912 - £42,651 p.a. Islington is a diverse and vibrant inner London borough, which continues to experience a large amount of development and change. We have imaginative planning policies, a positive and open attitude to growth, and a desire to secure development which addresses key local priorities such as maximising the delivery of genuinely affordable housing. The review of the existing Local Plan is underway, and we are working to a very ambitious timescale for adopting the revised Plan. In this post you will be involved in a range of tasks, including taking forward the review of different elements of the Local Plan and defending revised policies at Independent Examination; providing planning policy advice to Development Management officers on planning applications and pre-applications, including on large development schemes, and taking part in planning appeals; preparing Article 4 Directions; and supporting neighbourhood planning process. We are looking for a dynamic, positive and hardworking individual with significant knowledge and experience who can keep up-to-date with fast-changing London and national planning policy, guidance and legislation. The post holder will play a key role in taking forward the Local Plan review and in responding to new planning challenges facing the borough.
