We are an ambitious Council, located in the heart of ‘1066 Country’ in South East England. As part of a review of staffing for a time of planned growth in the main towns and key villages of the district we are recruiting two experienced, motivated and qualified professionals to join our Strategy and Planning Service on permanent contracts.

Post 1 Principal Planner - With experience at a senior level or above dealing with planning applications and/or policy work and with the ability to negotiate, communicate and prepare high quality reports, the successful applicant for the post will contribute primarily to the Development Management Team. You will deal with a range of work in urban situations and within the rural area, the majority of which is within the High Weald AONB.

Post 2 Conservation Officer - With experience of detailed work in relation to listed buildings and conservation matters the successful applicant for the post will give specialist professional advice, primarily related to the council’s planning and listed building casework. The district has a rich conservation heritage and includes the historic towns of Battle and Rye as well as the architecture of the High Weald.

For both posts we are willing to consider a range of flexible working patterns. Applicants are invited to indicate their preferred working pattern as part of their application and would be welcome to contact us to discuss the options that are available.

If you would like an informal discussion about either post, please contact Richard Wilson, Development Manager – Strategy and Planning on: (01424) 787616 or via email: richard.wilson@rother.gov.uk
