Managing the Commercial and Procurement Unit, you will control a range of activities aimed at achieving value for money, developing and promoting policy, processes and capability best practice and minimising commercial risk. You will also lead on governance and value for money issues across the agency and wider police service regarding procurement and contract issues, as well as promoting and implementing procedures for sustainability. As a key member of the Business Development senior management team, we will also look to you to provide strategic direction on all procurement activities, ensure that all best practice guidelines are complied with and develop communication strategies that promote the role of procurement.

Degree educated and a full member of the CIPS, you will have experience of leading procurement functions in a range of settings. Supporting this will be a sound understanding of business development issues relating to high value procurement projects, ideally within the public sector. This will be matched with a detailed knowledge of procurement processes, tools and techniques, EU procurement regulations and capability development processes and strategies.

The NPIA, National Policing Improvement Agency, works for the Police Service and directly supports forces to deliver improvements today, and into the future. We’re a single national support agency led by the police, for the police, created through the work of the ACPO, APA and the Home Office. The NPIA provides leadership and expertise to the police service in areas as diverse as information and intelligence sharing, core police processes, managing change and recruiting, developing and deploying people.
