Procurement and Contracts Officer

Department: Biometrics and Identity Management

You will deliver a range of Commercial and Procurement Unit activities, covering existing and emerging commercial requirements and activities in the biometrics and identity management arena. This will include liaising with and supporting a number of stakeholders, as well as working with the wider police service and engaging with internal customers regarding the delivery of the Ident1 contract. We will also look to you to provide commercial input in the development of new products, review supplier performance and develop key working relationships with ACPO and the Home Office.

Along with experience of strategic supply chain management, contract negotiation and stakeholder management, you will have a proven understanding of EU/UK procurement and competition law and how this affects the NPIA and the wider police service. Equally important is a sound knowledge of risk and value management, strong project management skills and the ability to work closely with a range of stakeholders at all levels.

The NPIA, National Policing Improvement Agency, works for the Police Service and directly supports forces to deliver improvements today, and into the future. We’re a single national support agency led by the police, for the police, created through the work of the ACPO, APA and the Home Office. The NPIA provides leadership and expertise to the police service in areas as diverse as information and intelligence sharing, core police processes, managing change and recruiting, developing and deploying people.
