Slough Borough Council Public Health Team has an exciting opportunity to appoint a new Programme Officer. With at least 3 years of substantial experience in Public Health, the post holder will be skilled in behavioural change approaches and motivational interviewing techniques. You will be responsible for the design, development and evaluation of a range of key Public Health programmes and projects. These will include commissioning, budget management and reporting to senior officers and committees.
This post will have a specific lead on Children and Young People including oral health and immunisations, Physical Activity and Obesity, working together with other council services to realise sustainable behavioural change in children and families, using digital solutions as a key delivery mechanism. You will lead on both short and longer term strategic development and commissioning of key projects and service developments focusing on areas such as Sustainability Development Plans (STP) where appropriate, as well as the Slough Wellbeing Strategy. The post holder will be expected to undertake matrix working across Berkshire Public Health teams on their specific work area.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational delivery of the agreed programmes to deliver timely, cost-effective and innovative solutions for all aspects of public health. They will also support the PH development lead for the county in rolling out the Making Every Contact Count programme both in the council and through partner agencies. As well as supporting the voluntary sector to deliver agreed public health outcomes in the voluntary sector commissioning strategy.
