There couldn’t be a more exciting time to join Newham’s Public Protection team. Already a leading centre of commerce and culture with the City Airport, international exhibition centre and ExCel all within our boundaries, we’re undertaking massive improvements in our infrastructure, housing and environment in the run up to the 2012 Games, hosted in our 80,000 seat stadium. Stratford City is another prestigious development offering 4,500 new homes, around half a million square metres of office space and a shopping centre to rival any in the UK and a new international passenger station on the Channel Tunnel rail link will place us just two hours from Paris and Brussels.
About us- The Health and Safety Enforcement Team is part of the Public Protection Directorate and is based at our modern offices at Newham Dockside
We are a committed, enforcement minded team with a number of new work areas to enable us to provide the Boroughs businesses and employees with the skills required to cope with the challenges the Olympics will bring. We work on a topic based inspection basis identifying work streams that fit with local needs.
About you – With a sound knowledge and substantial experience of Health and Safety regulation, you will handle a caseload as well as be expected to lead on 2 topic based inspection projects a year
You should be able to provide specialist support and guidance to the local residents, businesses and service users ensuring that they receive a committed and consistently high quality service in line with our aspirations to becoming a High Performing Newham
A qualified EHO with EHRB registration, you should have recent enforcement experience in health and safety and the special treatments framework. You will need to be highly motivated with excellent organisational skills and able to work with minimum supervision.
