The Howard League for Penal Reform is looking to recruit a Publishing Assistant. This role would be an excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to forge a career within an expanding, dynamic organisation.

The Publishing Assistant will work with commissioned and in-house authors to prepare text for publication including briefing on and supporting the use of our house style; proof reading, correcting manuscripts, editing and preparing texts for publication and act as a liaison point with commissioned authors. You will also check proofs prior to printing liaising with the designer to facilitate the production of research publications.

The ideal candidate must have knowledge of criminal justice, criminology, social policy or other related discipline to degree level or equivalent, experience of writing concise and accurate reports and summaries, proven excellent organisational skills including the ability to plan ahead and the ability to be self-servicing possessing the necessary typing and computer skills.
