The Role

12 month fixed term contract

The successful candidate will join the newly created Housing Needs service for a fixed term of 12 months and will be responsible for managing a caseload carrying out the effective assessment of housing need. This will involve a statutory assessment of circumstances, ensuring that, wherever possible households are prevented from becoming homeless or supported to access arrange of housing options The post-holder will be responsible for dealing with a range of cases, including complex cases which may be subject to judicial review and ombudsman enquiries and will therefore be required to have a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and procedures on homelessness and to provide innovative advice and solutions when dealing with complex and difficult cases.

In addition the successful applicant will have a good working knowledge of housing benefit rules, and of the supply and demand issues related to public sector and private housing in an inner London council, have experience of giving advice and information to vulnerable customers and working in a busy front line customer focused environment and excellent communication and negotiating skills.

SO2 £28,809 – £30,396 pa inc London Weighting
