This is an opportunity for experienced Residential Workers to specialise in the field of Autism. We are a new residential home called Ruth House, specifically to work with children and young people with Autism. You will also work closely with Freemantles School, which is specialist school for these young people. No two days will be the same in this challenging and exciting position.

Role Description:
As a Residential Worker in this new service you will be part of a team responsible for creating and maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for the children and young people who may come to stay there. Our ultimate goal will be to provide a positive experience for the children and young people whilst staying away from their homes. As part of a team you will be responsible for building relationships with the children and young people and developing individual care plans for specific young people. Within the home there will be positive communication with colleagues and the young people, which will be essential and key to our success. There will be regular team meetings and you will be actively encouraged to contribute to strategies that will improve the everyday lives of the young people at Ruth House.

The skills we are looking for and that you will need to demonstrate are good communication skills, ability to work as a team, preparedness to learn new skills. Ideally you will have experience of working within a residential setting with knowledge of or experience of working with young people. You will also have good personal authority and an ability to develop and sustain appropriate professional and personal boundaries. The work will involve shift working across a 24 hour service, working weekends and bank holidays at times and you will need to be prepared to take the young people away on holidays. In return we offer unique opportunities for professional learning and development. This will be through regular supervision and training opportunities including the NVQ3 programme.
