Revenues Inspector (Permanent)

Salary Scale 3/4 £18,496 – £22,705 plus essential car user allowance

We are looking for a full time property inspector who will visit both domestic and commercial properties identifying occupier status/liable parties, identifying potential entitlement to discounts and exemptions and some internal property inspections to assess disabled relief as well as determining uninhabitable status, always ensuring that the Council maximises revenue collection.

You will liaise with the Valuation Office, Planning and Building Controls services in identifying new properties or changes. You may on occasions have to attend Valuation Tribunal hearings to defend appeals on empty properties.

Ideally you should have a good working knowledge of Council Tax and Business Rates, however full training will be given. Knowledge of the Spelthorne area would also be an advantage and you should possess a full clean driving licence. A good standard of education (5 GCSE’s grades A to C or equivalent) is required.

You will be out of the office the majority of the time using the latest technology to update property records with very little paper or manual intervention. You will need to be a highly organised individual who enjoys working under their own initiative working methodically to strict deadlines with minimal supervision. As you will deal directly with the public, you must excel in customer care and communication skills.

This post will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) check.
