Doncaster is a borough undergoing massive economic renewal. A central part of its aspirations for future prosperity is the quality of education in our schools.

The Directorate of Children and Young People’s Services has been given challenging targets to improve achievement in the Borough at all key stages, including the Foundation Stage.

We have a dedicated team of primary specialist advisers who work closely with schools to develop and promote innovative approaches to educational change and development. A large part of the role is to further develop the support for LDD within all schools in the authority, including our five new special schools. Could you add to the strength of this team and help us to enhance our achievements? We are seeking to attract a committed and enthusiastic person to bring additional expertise and drive to our team.

Who might you be? You may be a successful primary headteacher who is looking for a change and a new challenge either as a full time career move or on a part time basis alongside your current headship. Equally you might already be working in School Improvement and feel attracted to the challenges and career development that Doncaster can offer. You may even be someone who is currently working as a freelance consultant after a successful career track record in school leadership. You will have had significant involvement with additional needs in mainstream schools or with special schools and settings and be well informed about current developments in this area.

New advisers might join us on a permanent basis, or as a secondment. Requests for flexible working arrangements will also be considered.

If you would like to find out more about how you can make a difference to the children in Doncaster’s schools, please ring either Iain Peel, Principal Adviser on (01302) 737016 or Kate French, Senior Primary Adviser on (01302) 737248 for an informal discussion about this exciting career prospect.
