We are looking for someone with library experience, self-motivation and enthusiasm for working with children, to run the library in Willenhall School Sports College.

The post will be based at Willenhall School but will be part of Walsall Libraries and Heritage and will report to the Schools Library Support Service.

In addition to basic duties such as issuing and returning library resources, answering enquiries from school pupils and staff and undertaking routine clerical procedures, you will also be required to:

 Organise and deliver activities which promote reading and develop reading skills, e.g. homework club and reading groups
 Organise & deliver library induction sessions, as required
 Liaise with teaching staff to ensure library support for the curriculum (including attending school meetings where appropriate)
 Maintain contacts with local primary schools
 Organise and supervise pupil helpers in the library

It is important that you have the skills to develop a rapport with the pupils and to work in partnership with the teaching staff. You will also need to have substantial recent experience of library work with children (in a public or school library), together with a relevant level 2 qualification.

The post is graded on Scale 6 and you will be required to work 37 hours a week term-time only. Your salary will be paid pro-rata on the basis of 43.6 weeks per year. The post is subject to a Service Level Agreement with the School and funding is currently confirmed until July 2010.
