As one of our Senior Category Specialists you will have the opportunity to develop your career in a managerial role within our forward thinking and pioneering oneSource shared service. One which is fully council led and council owned.

OneSource has already made great strides in enabling Newham and Havering to make greater efficiencies in procurement and is positioned to grow further.

As our construction expert you will take the lead on a wide range of construction contracts related to corporate buildings, schools, highways, new builds and regeneration projects. You will take a planned and strategic approach to ensure that the procurement and management of these contracts achieve best value. This will include formulating a procurement plan for forthcoming tendering exercises and finding opportunities to combine different contracts. This will, in turn, reap the benefits of economies of scale as well as a more planned and strategic approach.

In this lead role you will also work with other stakeholders to ensure compliance with procurement processes and help safeguard services from risk of challenge.

About you

Ideally you will be CIPS qualified, or be willing to work towards this and have experience in procurement of complex construction contracts. You will be able to effectively engage with a range of stakeholders across both boroughs and ensure that the procurement service works collaboratively - providing essential expertise and support across the spectrum of construction contracts. As a manager you will both develop and empower your team.

OneSource provides shared back office support services for local government and other public services – helping to make savings and work more efficiently. Sharing services through oneSource has already enabled significant savings in back office costs by cutting management costs, reducing duplication and making efficiency gains by re-engineering processes. In April 2016, Bexley Council’s Financial Services joined the two founding councils. The three councils are estimating to achieve approximately £40M in savings by 2018/19.
