Housing and Advice Services – Housing Initiatives Team

Within our Empty Homes Team, this newly created post will focus primarily on tackling the very worst of the private sectors long term empty properties, offering the opportunity for you to make a big difference not only to the lives of nearby residents but also to contribute to the regeneration of neighbourhoods.

You will utilise all available enforcement tools to follow up on those empty properties whose owners have failed to respond to support and encouragement. From the service of statutory notices through to Management Orders and Compulsory Purchase, for example.

You will have experience in the Compulsory Purchase process relating to private rented housing. Extensive experience in the environmental health housing specialism, particularly with regard to housing enforcement and houses in multiple occupation is also a requirement. You will be expected to demonstrate effective skills in communication and persuasion and be capable and confident in dealing directly with customers.
