(Previous experience at Senior Practitioner Level would be advantageous but is not essential to apply)

Here in Birmingham we take a relationship-based approach when working with families with long standing issues; thus enabling us to implement innovative practices that will bring about change.
As a senior practitioner in Birmingham, you are the linchpin of your team. You will not only support the Team Manager in their role; but you will also mentor, induct and be a positive role model to our newly qualified social workers just starting out on their journey; and our established social workers who may need a little support or just a listening ear. You are the person who can be turned to for expert knowledge and advice that will bring success and good results for your colleagues and the team.
We will also look to you to undertake those more complex cases, for example, cases involving large sibling groups, court work, Child Sexual Exploitation cases and young people who are missing.
You will have the opportunity to work with our Chief Social Worker to develop practice and improve services, coupled with more autonomy to be creative and innovative; you will ensure everyone you mentor and support will achieve.
There will also be opportunities to lead on specific projects, service priorities and on data collecting exercises, which will shape the way we work.

If you have 3 years or more post qualifying experience & are joining us from another authority; you will receive a recruitment incentive payment of £3,000 (subject to tax and national insurance deductions).
If you stay with one of our frontline teams for two years and remain with us; on your third year, you will receive a retention payment of £2,400, paid quarterly in your pay package.
