Senior Project Engineer

The Borough of Test Valley is predominantly rural with the main settlements being the towns of Andover and Romsey, which are experiencing significant residential and commercial development. The job offers the successful candidate a challenge as the Senior Project Engineer within the Council’s Engineering and Transport team, implementing the Council’s capital programme as well as developer funded schemes. The team also maintains the Council’s pay and display car parks, street name plates and bus shelters.

The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for the design and implementation of civil engineering projects on the Council’s capital programme. In the past these have ranged from the provision of footpaths, cycleways and parking to sports and leisure play facilities. The post holder will also be responsible for design and implementation of various transport related infrastructure improvements funded by developer S106/CIL highway contributions.

An enthusiastic and talented individual, you will be qualified to degree/HNC level or equivalent, have a good working knowledge of highway design standards with experience, and a proven track record in successful contract and budget management. You will have an ability to provide technical advice on traffic/highway design and general civil engineering matters and innovative value for money solutions.

A good working knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 is essential, having undertaken the role of Designer, and preferably the CDM Coordinator. Committed to the highest standards of customer care with excellent communication and management skills, you will liaise with stakeholders about scheme design.
