Do you want to be part of a new team that will provide spatial data solutions helping make South Derbyshire a better place to work, live, and visit? If so, this is your chance to join a new and progressive service unit, giving you exposure to a multi-disciplinary local government organisation. The newly created unit will be using recently procured open-source mapping software, and the post will be working in a friendly and supportive team, on a number of new and exciting projects.
Working closely initially with Planning Services and branching out to support other units as further digital mapping solutions are rolled out: - You will help support and deliver the Geographical Information System (GIS) across the council.
You will play a key role in the development of a Spatial Data Strategy, setting out the Council’s aims for the use of address and location based data across the organisation. Responsible for keeping the council’s Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG) maintained by being the council’s official custodian and point of contact.
Highlighting the benefits of GIS and promoting its use across the organisation, you will play a pivotal role in creating better, more streamlined services for colleagues, local businesses, counsellors, and the residents of South Derbyshire using your knowledge to support a training programme for GIS across the Council.
Once you start in your role, you'll get an induction into the organisation and time to spend with our teams to find out everything you need to know about how the organisation works.
