Speech & Language Therapist

Rivermead is a Special School for young people aged between 11 and 19 years. We are proud that our learners, most of whom are autistic, develop both their social and academic potential and are able to progress successfully to further and higher education and to independent adult life.

We are looking for a special person to take on an exciting opportunity.

Speech and Language Therapist

Part Time: 28 hours per week term time only (39 weeks per annum)

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of our multi-disciplinary team working together to improve the outcomes for young people with autism (including Asperger’s syndrome) and speech and language disorders.

The post-holder will:

• work directly with young people, assessing needs and providing intervention
• provide specialist training to other staff to develop the whole school’s approach to speech and language in the classroom and throughout the school day.
• provide advice and guidance to parents, where appropriate training them to support their children at home.
• oversee the work of support staff working with the post-holder

You should be enthusiastic and motivated and able to manage your own workload. You must be flexible, approachable and able to communicate with a range of professionals, parents and the young people themselves. You should have some experience of working with children and young people with autism.
