As the Council has a normal retirement age of 65, the maximum age for recruiting new employees will usually be 64 1/2.

We are looking for two committed and innovative professionals to join our Sports and Activities Team. You will be required to actively promote and provide opportunities for the local community to participate in sport and physical activity by:

• Assisting in the delivery of a wide range of sports and physical activity programmes within Newham.

• Planning, preparing and delivering programmes to encourage young people, adults and targeted groups to become actively involved in sport and physical activity.

• Working in partnership with local and national organisations to assist in the delivery of the objectives set out in the Sports and Activities Team service plan.

You will be an integral part of the team’s sport and physical activity programmes, ensuring that they operate efficiently, including providing performance indicators to demonstrate that they meet the high standards set by Newham Council.
You will contribute to the development of the Sports and Activities Team, linking programmes across the service as well as the wider Council vision.
Excellent communication skills are essential with the ability to work with a wider range of health, sports and activity partners, external funders and a diverse range of community stakeholders in Newham.
