Here at Bexley, we’ve earned a reputation as an efficient, well-managed authority with a strong commitment to customer care, employee development and diversity. The reason for this is simple: we are always ready to try out new ideas, and to work with talented new people.

We are looking to recruit a Street Works Technician/Inspector to join a team of professionals in the Council’s Street Works Team who co-ordinate and control Public Utility Works on the Public Highway.

The post involves inspecting the standard of utility company workmanship on the structure of the highway, rectification of defects and monitoring traffic management and safe working practice to ensure full compliance with the New Roads & Street Works Act 1991.

An ONC Construction based qualification or Street Works accreditation is desirable, together with an understanding of reinstatement and traffic management requirements. Alternatively applications will be welcomed from candidates with a proven Highway, Utility or traffic Police background.

In order to carry out site inspections the applicants must be mobile around the Borough and be competent in all aspects of administration pertinent to the post. These are excellent and rare opportunities to develop a career, both technically and professionally to which full support and training will be provided.

The Council offer excellent training opportunities and have a strong commitment towards personal development, so if you are enthusiastic and committed to succeed and want to progress your career with a forward thinking Council, then look no further.

This authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
