Are you interested in a challenging role which provides support to individuals with learning disabilities or other complex needs?
You will be scheme based in Islington at a Supported Housing scheme for 11 tenants with Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, dual diagnosis or substance misuse issues, with a staff team of 5 support workers and 1 team leader. At the scheme, we provide 24 hour support.
Origin Housing builds homes and communities in London and Hertfordshire. It owns and manages more than 5,000 homes that are rented to individuals requiring social housing and key worker accommodation or part-rented-part-sold to shared owners. Origin also has over 1,000 tenants and service users that are cared and supported by our housing and services, to encourage greater independence.
Within the role you will be required to support service users to develop life skills and the confidence to integrate successfully into the local community.
All candidates will require experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities and knowledge of the relevant legislation which affects learning disabilities would be an advantage.
You will need to possess excellent listening and communication skills as well as the ability to support vulnerable adults. Working as part of a team you will be enthusiastic with a positive attitude and be willing to learn with the ability to develop good practice.
In addition you will need to be able to liaise with internal and external agencies and demonstrate a good standard of written, verbal and numeric skills as well as basic PC skills (including using our SP software on a daily basis).
You will be required to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleepovers on a rota basis.
Origin look to develop individuals providing a good training package that is tailored to individual and statutory needs.
A good standard of written, verbal and numeric skills, as well as basic PC skills, are essential and although previous experience is not required, an understanding of this client group would be beneficial.
