The issue of maintaining a healthy weight is a national, regional and local priority.
Medway has set ambitious targets to reduce local levels of obesity and overweight and drive action to tackle its causes and consequences.
The Supporting Healthy Weight Team was established to facilitate the achievement of these targets by leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive Healthy Weight Strategy.
Over the last 2 years the Team has developed a number of successful programmes and its achievements have been acknowledged at a regional and national level.
The PCT has allocated a significant amount of additional resources to support the team to build on this success. This will enable us to increase our capacity to deliver existing programmes as well as expand our portfolio of projects.

We are seeking to recruit an Events Co-Ordinator to coordinate the development, implementation and administration of the scheme for MEND Graduates in Medway.
The aims of the scheme are to:
· Maintain momentum around lifestyle and behavioural change by providing MEND Graduates and their families with opportunities to participate in regular activities and social events.
· Provide opportunities for monitoring the progress of MEND participants at 6 months and 12 months after completion of the initial MEND Programme.

The postholder will also be expected to support the delivery of the MEND programme by acting as a Programme Facilitator or Assistant (See job description and person specification for further details).

The successful candidate will have a good general level of education including GCSE or equivalent at grade C or above in Maths and English and a BTEC/HNC/NVQ Level 5 in a public health related discipline or equivalent. They will have an awareness of current public health issues, particularly relating to healthy weight and experience of the successful organisation of activity and events programmes for children and families. They will be able to work independently or as part of a team and effectively prioritise their own workload.
