Are you…
· interested in the current issues relating to healthy weight?

· looking for an opportunity to be part of a dynamic and ambitious team?
· ready for a new challenge?

IF SO THEN WE HAVE AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN THE MEDWAY PUBLIC HEALTH SUPPORTING HEALTHY WEIGHT TEAM

The issue of maintaining a healthy weight is a national, regional and local priority.
Medway has set ambitious targets to reduce local levels of obesity and overweight and drive action to tackle its causes and consequences.
The Supporting Healthy Weight Team was established to facilitate the achievement of these targets by leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive Healthy Weight Strategy.
Over the last 2 years the Team has developed a number of successful programmes and its achievements have been acknowledged at a regional and national level.
The PCT has allocated a significant amount of additional resources to support the team to build on this success. This will enable us to increase our capacity to deliver existing programmes as well as expand our portfolio of projects.

Expansion of the team means that we are looking to recruit a total of 3 Project Co-ordinators to oversee a range of different projects including: MEND Community Food, Healthy Weight in Pregnancy and Early Years and Workplace Health (see job description and person specification for further details).

You will:
· Be able to benefit from and build upon our existing partnerships, working collaboratively with colleagues within the Council, PCT and a broad range of external organisations.
· Be a valued member of a proactive and supportive team.
· Receive appropriate training and support to facilitate your professional development.

The successful applicants will be educated to degree level or equivalent with extensive experience of engaging and collaborating with partner organisations, communities and individuals to develop and deliver health improvement projects.
They will have a working knowledge of public health theory and practice, particularly relating to healthy weight and an awareness of the current national and local policies driving the agenda.
They will be a self-starter, with the ability to motivate others into action.
