Surveyor – Professional Work Ref: 1974

Reporting to the principal surveyor, we are looking for a highly skilled building surveyor (professional work) to join our asset management team to manage professional matters and works contracts in order to deliver an effective and economic service to our residents.

The successful candidate will have proven knowledge of party wall matters, scaffold licences, rights of light, planning issues as well as experience of managing building contracts and knowledge of residential construction and refurbishment. You will have sound technical expertise to understand complex issues in construction, engineering and maintenance. You will be responsible for managing the consultants appointed for Party Wall Matters and for representing Peabody’s interests in Planning issues and in other negotiations. Effective contract administration is to be delivered for all contracts within budget and timescale.

The ability to work effectively within a team environment is key, alongside the capability to effectively communicate with both internal and external customers. Proven knowledge of and compliance with the relevant statutory and regulatory requirements, including health and safety is essential. You will be proficient in the use of IT systems and have demonstrable ability to set, manage and monitor budgets.

Peabody was founded 150 years ago by London banker and philanthropist George Peabody – to ‘alleviate the condition of the poor and needy’ in ‘this great metropolis’ of London.

Working in nearly every London borough, Peabody provides over 20,000 homes for over 55,000 people. We also have one of the largest community regeneration programmes of any housing association. Our focus is on helping people and communities to grow, ensuring our estates are springboards not safety nets.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday 8th August 2012.
