Role Description:
The Systems, Information and Technology (S.I.T.) team manages and maintains all Surrey Fire and Rescue Service systems including in-vehicle GIS, Radio and Communication infrastructure, Risk Data management, and Mobilising, as well as the development and support of the same.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a conscientious and professional team to process Site Specific Risk Information and support our department on a wide range of projects to ensure not only the safety of our fire crews, but also the people who live in and visit our County.

Based at Headquarters in Reigate, you will work processing risk-critical data from various sources for eventual display on our in-cab computers in operational vehicles. Preferably you will have worked in a quality assured environment, understanding the importance of accurate data, and may have worked in a similar mobile data environment in one of the Emergency Services. You will also need to respond to the constantly changing work priorities of this front-line service, helping us meet our transition to Regional working.

You will have excellent computer skills, and as an experienced MS Office user, be competent in Excel in particular. Some working knowledge of GIS (MapInfo/ESRI) is expected and knowledge of NLPG and mobile data an advantage. Your skills will be further enhanced by your ability to adapt to, and use, a wide range of other applications.

Good literacy and observation are essential in this role as you will be responsible for the quality of data made available to our firefighters in the event of an incident. Methodical, logical and with good observation for attention to detail, you must be dedicated to accuracy. In addition to this, you will possess good interpersonal skills with a requirement to interpret instructions correctly and have excellent electronic file management.
