Havering Adult College is looking for a qualified and experienced part time/sessional teacher to deliver Specific Learning Difficulties and Behavioural Disorders course. The post will commence in September 2014 and will be delivered at a school within Havering.

Classes are currently scheduled to take place on Wednesday evening from 6.30pm – 9.30pm for 25 weeks with the addition of occasional Saturday workshop as required, so please consider this when applying.

The teacher will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the course, management of the sessions and recording attendance correctly. Support and training will be provided by the Curriculum Development Manager to ensure the smooth running of the sessions and compliance with internal systems.

The teacher will be required to mark and moderate all learners work and ensure the learner’s portfolios meet the awarding body criteria to pass the certificate.

Successful candidates should be experience in delivering some/ if not all of the following conditions: ADHD, Autism, Auditory Processing Disorder, Dyslexia, Dyscalcus, Dyspraxia and Tourette’s Syndrome. The teacher should also hold nationally recognised subject specific qualifications to support their application.

A SVUK endorsed Level 4 Teaching Qualification or the commitment to achieve within 2 years of commencement of post. Level 2 literacy and numeracy qualification.

The applicant should be committed to CPD and willing to attend team meetings and events as required.

This post is exempt from the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 the successful applicant will be expected to undertake a satisfactory disclosure report from the Disclosure and Barring Service. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the Council.
