Reading Borough Council is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Technical Assistant to work within the Environmental Protection and Nuisance Team.
You will be carrying out proactive/reactive inspections, investigating complaints and evaluating any risks in relation to domestic and commercial nuisance enquiries. With support you will also be taking enforcement action in line with the Council’s enforcement policy. Ideally you would have an understanding of Environmental Protection matters to include noise, air quality, contaminated land and licensed events.
Some work outside of normal office hours will be required, and you will need a flexible approach to your work. You should be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, members of the public and other agencies, both verbally and in writing.
A full driving licence is essential. You must possess GCSE grade A-C in maths and English or equivalent.
