In order to cover for maternity absence the opportunity has arisen to appoint 2 Part Time Temporary Emergency Control Coordinators, within the new Control Room, to maintain service delivery, rota capacity and resilience. The posts will be office based at Bradley Fold Depot and will involve shift work (within a rota –an average of 24hrs per week) worked in accordance with operational requirements and to a specific Control Room rota, comprising evenings, nights and weekend days and nights. An additional matrix payment will be applicable. The Councils Community Safety Service (CSS) is a Priority 1 Operational Service area which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and deals with a wide range of community and security responses and Council emergency situations via the Emergency Control Room and, out around the borough, via mobile Community Response Officers. The work of the service can be dynamic and exciting and it has diversified and expanded in recent years to meet the needs of a wide variety of clients and service areas.
.
You will join a professional, self-motivated team of officers committed to the reduction of security risks and the prevention of crime and vandalism to all Council, client and partner agency land and property. You will work within a technologically advanced Control Room / Call Centre environment and must be observant and assertive with good self-control, listening skills and customer care. Whilst a high level of experience and understanding from a community safety, security or call centre background would be an advantage we are looking for applicants with transferable skills, especially ICT, and the enthusiasm and potential to make a positive contribution to the work of the CSS. With training you must be prepared to develop a high level of understanding of Control Room and Call Centre work and have the ability to deal with a diverse range of community safety and security response issues. All successful applicants will be required to possess an appropriate Security Industry Association (SIA – CCTV) license which includes a satisfactory DBS check. You will also be required to undertake an enhanced Police check. The key purpose, objectives and responsibilities of the post are set out within the Job Description and Person Specification. These positions need to be filled as quickly as possible and it is anticipated that interviews including a practical IT test will be held on the 13 June 2013 and appointment to the position will take place through negotiation with your existing Head of Service given the unique requirements of the post. In order to support budget reductions in Local Government, the Council looked at many ways to reduce spending that minimised the need to reduce employee numbers or impact on services. There are two measures which have been put in place which are applicable to all staff up to and including the Chief Executive: • Incremental progression within grades has been frozen until April 2014 and
• all employees are required to take an additional 3 days (unpaid) annual leave. This can be taken at any time during the leave year; the cost of these additional days is spread over 12 months or pro rata to your start date.
