Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is looking for a Theatre Technician to join the busy Assembly Hall Theatre. The theatre is a 1,000-seater venue situated in the heart of Tunbridge Wells town centre and has an eclectic annual programme of shows ranging from children and family, comedy, West End touring musicals and dramas, popular music.
As a Theatre Technician you will required to work within all departments assisting stage, sound and lx. Your key responsibilities as Theatre Technician, with a bias to lighting and stage, will be the setting up and operation of house and touring lighting equipment in accordance with a show’s technical specification. Alongside this you will be required to carry out maintenance as required to ensure all house lighting and rigging equipment are fully functional.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with all aspects of lighting rigging, including programming of ETC EOS consoles. The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of double purchase counterweight flying and have good stage etiquette.
You must able to work calmly and effectively with a wide range of people, including artists and visiting production staff. You will have a confident and approachable manner, be able to work with minimal supervision, remaining calm and focussed whilst under pressure and working to tight time schedules.
Due to the variety of shows coming into the theatre you will be required to work in other departments, such as sound and setting auditorium seats, as well as helping with get ins and get outs, this is an essential part of the job. You will need to have a head for heights. As shows are booked over seven days you will be required to work evenings and weekends.
