Parks and Open Spaces Operations

This section looks after the maintenance of Parks and Open Spaces, Highway Verges, Housing sites and Schools throughout the Borough.

With an agricultural or horticultural background and Tractor or Plant equipment experience, you will be responsible for operating Tractors and PTO (Power Take-off) equipment such as Gang Mowing equipment and other implements. Further training will be given to enable you to achieve the NPTC Certificate in Tractor Operation. You will also be required to undertake other manual horticultural work in addition to Tractor operation.

You will be primarily based at the Council’s main depot at Mill Hill, however you should be prepared to work from and in any location within the Borough as situations require.

The working hours for this post vary to reflect the seasonal nature of the job but average out through the year to 36 hours a week. A quality payment is currently paid in addition to the salary stated however, not during periods of sickness or in situations where work is deemed below acceptable standard.

You must be punctual, reliable, able to carry out manual work and willing to work outside in all types of weather.
