Main Purpose Of Job

As part of a small team you will assist with the day-to-day operation, maintenance and repair of the Medway Tunnel; contributing to its safe operation by the co-ordination of a number of external contractors and consultants who will be working at the tunnel during the day. You will also be required to attend regular over-night maintenance closures to assist the Tunnel Operations Manager in the supervision of contractors, for which additional payment will be made.

Carry out Site Induction training for visiting personnel, organise and record Tunnel meetings and communicate with a variety of people, both face to face, in writing and via the telephone.

Operate the Medway Tunnel CCTV Control System, recording any incidents and reporting such to the appropriate agency / person. You will assist the Emergency Services, as required, such as instigating advance warning systems to drivers approaching the Tunnel, whilst managing the equipment for the Medway Tunnel.

Take measurements and monitor readings from the various meters within the Medway Tunnel Service Building and keep accurate records of various systems and procedures.
