Contract: Fixed Term Contract for 12 months – Full Time – 35 hours

Salary: £32,532 – £35,055 (PO2)

Location: Town Hall Extension, Argyle Street, London. WC1H 8NP

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Workplace Co-ordinator to join Camden Council’s Economic Development Team within the Culture and Environment Directorate. Join Camden Apprenticeships, the borough’s flagship apprenticeship programme, to help local young people and local businesses get the most from their apprenticeships. We have ambitions to increase the number of apprenticeships we offer and this role will play a key part in delivering our aims.

As the Workplace Co-ordinator you will assist local young people to access apprenticeship opportunities with local employers. You will manage a pilot initiative to encourage a wider audience to consider apprenticeship options with a view to making apprenticeships open to all. You will work closely with schools and parents to target all levels of pupils to offer advice on apprenticeship schemes as an alternative to university or college courses. In addition, you will actively engage with employers to create apprentice style placements for vulnerable young people and to access advanced and higher apprenticeships for high achievers.

Key Requirements

Qualifications/Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of key policies and strategies involved with apprenticeship schemes and training
  • A good understanding of recruitment needs of pubic and private sector employees in line with apprenticeships is desirable
  • Knowledge of factors that improve the chances of sustained employment for young people and developing solutions to overcome any challenges or obstacles

Skills/Behaviours:

  • Ability to engage and form effective working relationships with both employers and candidates at all levels
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to prepare and deliver presentations and reports to a wide audience of employees and service users
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and set achievable targets to meet agreed deadlines

Experience:

  • Experience of working with employers to identify their recruitment needs and promoting productive relationships with a variety of organisations
  • Experience of negotiating training and employment opportunities to encourage employment sustainability within the community
  • Experience of working with professionals from support services, and across other agencies/departments to achieve agreed outcomes
  • Experience of dealing with a wide audience and range of candidates
