Role Description:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual to join the countywide Safer Communities Team to engage young people in heritage and linked cultural activities that meet identified need and which will add value to current Youth Development Service objectives.

The nature of the role will be to work with established projects, voluntary youth organisations and alongside colleagues from our borough youth work teams in order to add value to current provision, and to help set up and manage creative new initiatives, which correspond to what young people want and need, and which engages them in positive heritage based activities that will enrich their lives.

You will need to be self-motivated, persuasive, resilient and patient. Above all you will possess the exceptional qualities required to engage hard-to-reach young people and those on the margins of society, win their trust and respect and have the ability to help them identify achievable aspirations and quickly turn these into reality.

Please note that only candidates who are either already qualified as part-time youth workers, or those willing to undertake a relevant qualification (which will be provided) upon appointment will be considered.

An enhanced CRB disclosure and a Children\’s barred list check will be required for this role.

Surrey County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
