Sevenoaks District Council has made significant improvements in the delivery of the benefits service in recent years and are continuing to improve still further. We are now looking for experienced Benefit Assessors equally committed to delivering an excellent service to our customers. Vacancies have arisen for two Benefits Assessors – 1 on a permanent contract and 1 on an annual contract.

Your duties will include  giving advice and dealing with all types of benefit related customer queries on the telephone and from personal callers at the office  accurately assessing all types of claims for council tax benefit and housing benefit  updating and maintaining computerised and manual systems, including use of a Document Imaging Processing System

 have detailed working knowledge of council tax benefit and housing benefit gained from being an experienced benefit assessor  experience of calculating and assessing all types of council tax benefit and housing benefit  are flexible, self motivated and have genuine desire to provide a first class customer service  are able to communicate with the general public, work colleagues, and outside organisations  enjoy and know the importance of working as part of a team whilst being able to work on your own initiative are computer literate  and are able to handle difficult situations and work to deadlines ….. we are looking for you!
