The Senior HR Adviser will be required to assist the Lead HR Manager to develop a pro-active, progressive, innovative and customer-focused Human Resources function for the MST taking particular responsibility for the Midlands-Yorkshire Region for MST to facilitate the achievement of business objectives and to drive forward organisational performance.

This position will be responsible for delivering HR support to Metropolitan Support Trust (MST) along the principles of a business partnering model.

The position will be based in the Midlands – Yorkshire Region predominately delivering support in that region but as a member of the MST HR team will also provide support to the wider business.

Although reporting directly to the Lead HR Manager the postholder will also link in to the HR Manager (Interim) in respect to certain operational HR support.

This post is also a member of the Metropolitan Housing Partnership corporate HR team as well as the MST team and therefore a degree of travelling to the Partnerships offices in the Midlands, Yorkshire and the London area will be required.

Essential criteria for the role:

• HR Adviser experience or similar (essential), including working with senior managers on performance management, employee relations, resourcing, and staff/management development

• Business skills
• Leadership and team-working skills-good motivator

• Experience of working with minimal supervision and guidance

• Experience of employee/Trades Union consultation and negotiation processes, requiring good negotiation and mediation skills

• Experience of managing and championing change, persuading and influencing key players

• Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the issues around diversity and how to maximise its benefit to the management and delivery of services

• Experience of devising and implementing new processes/initiatives and of managing projects

• In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of current and proposed employment law and its application through policies and procedures in a business-facing operational Human Resources function

• A clear understanding of customer focus, experience of the delivery of a business-facing service and the regular monitoring of performance standards

• A pro-active, participative and flexible approach to problem solving, taking the initiative by evaluating, making suggestions and generating new ideas to improve working methods and levels of performance

• Knowledge and experience of managing mergers and acquisitions and the transfer of staff under TUPE

• Computer literate, including experience of Microsoft Windows based products

• Ability to work under pressure from conflicting demands

This position is permanent and on a full time basis of 35 hours per week.

Location: MST Office in Nottingham, or other Midlands/Yorkshire location as agreed.
