An Accredited Financial Investigator who has current accreditation status with NPIA is required in order to increase the ability of the force to tackle offences and offenders through the use of asset confiscation and other powers provided by the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
The main responsibility will be to seize identified criminal assets and proceeds of crime aimed at increasing the ability of the force to tackle level 1 and level 2 offences and offenders. You will be required to present evidence related to such work at court and will therefore be literate and numerate to ‘A’ level standard and have considerable demonstrable experience, competence and practical knowledge of the business and commercial world. Experienced in producing well written reports and charts using Microsoft office packages, you will present reports in respect of crime committed and asset recovery. You will use your effective communication skills, along with your experience, to present/lecture to officers and professional bodies on the service available to them.
You will need to possess an aptitude for investigative processes and evidence handling procedures, have the ability and experience of interviewing people and be able to manage and plan your own workload whilst working with minimal supervision.
You will need, within one year of attending a Financial Investigators course, to submit a Personal Development Portfolio for assessment to become accredited by the Asset Recovery Agency.
The ability to travel around the force is essential, as is a flexible approach to working tasks and hours.
Along with all other posts on the Crime Support Departments this role will require an enhanced level of vetting.
