Surrey Arts teaches music to over 12,000 young people across the county every year.

We are a complex organisation, with a large number of groups and ensembles and a talented team of dedicated staff. In this important post, you will play a lead role in the development of our high quality programme, helping us make sure that every child’s music matters. You will enjoy a varied and interesting range of responsibilities – from teaching whole classes, small groups and individuals in schools and other settings, to visiting and evaluating instrument teachers, assessing their training needs, and helping them to develop too. Helping to build both strong teams, and new teaching and learning programmes throughout Surrey, your contribution will be significant.

A qualified teacher, with a music degree (or equivalent) and instrumental teaching experience, you have a high level of skill on your principal instrument. Your range of demonstrable relevant knowledge includes teaching methods, the Music National Curriculum for Schools and current initiatives in music education. A skilled and motivational leader, you will set an excellent example, and also work well as a team member. Committed to delivering the best for young people and their teachers, you have the excellent interpersonal and communication skills necessary to build strong relationships with a wide range of parties in Surrey Arts and beyond.

An enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure check will be required for this role.

For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Hugh Craig on 01932 794586.
