Funding from NHS Notts County has allowed the District Council’s Sports Development Team to recruit an instructor to co-ordinate a project called Active 4 Life. This supports the new Change 4 Life national campaign, encouraging people to eat well, move more and live longer.
This position involves working with employers to develop physical activity programmes for employees who want to get fitter, change their eating habits and improve their lifestyle. You will work with local sports clubs, leisure centres, agencies and partners from all sectors within the community to offer sustainable exit routes for continued participation and health improvement. In this role you will plan, co-ordinate, deliver and evaluate a variety of physical activity and health promotion sessions. You will also conduct health assessments and provide basic advice and guidance to participants.
Do you have:
- A recognised fitness qualification, i.e. Exercise to Music, Gym instructor Level 2 or equivalent
- The ability to plan, deliver sessions, programmes and activities, as well as evaluate and report their success to relevant partners
- Experience of working under pressure and meeting strict deadlines
- Knowledge and awareness of barriers and possible solutions to participation in physical activity within disadvantaged groups
- Experience of working with a range of local voluntary, private and statutory organisations
- The ability to motivate and communicate with others at all levels, work unsupervised and use initiative to achieve tasks
- A flexible approach to working hours with some evening and weekend work required
- A current driving licence and a reliable vehicle for use at work, for any disabled applicants, suitable arrangements can be arranged, if necessary.
