South East England is the UK’s largest region and the timely delivery of major transport infrastructure is critical to accommodating future growth. We have an exciting opportunity for a strongly motivated individual to grasp the chance to develop strategic expertise in a fresh thinking and highly regarded regional planning team.
You will need an interest in, and experience of, transport policy and delivery to join our small team working on implementation of the transport aspects of the South East Plan. Some experience of spatial or transport planning and delivery, along with an understanding of transport policy and planning issues, is desirable.
This opportunity comes at a particularly challenging time for the South East. As a region we were the pioneers of work on prioritisation of transport investment and were the first to establish a Regional Transport Board. The finalised South East Plan is expected shortly. Government is seeking our updated advice on transport priorities in 2009 and accordingly we are reviewing our current programme of investment priorities; in the process seeking out new opportunities to target investment in a way that encourages behavioural change.
This role is offered on either a fixed-term contract or as a secondment opportunity for 6 to 8 months in the first instance.
