The Ranger Service has responsibility for ensuring that North Somerset’s seafronts, woodlands, parks and open spaces are maintained as high quality, safe and accessible environments. Our service carries out a range of tasks and projects that promote public use and enjoyment of these amenities.
Working as part of a team you will carry out core Ranger Service duties and work specifically in addressing issues of public safety and security in public open spaces
Main duties will include:
• Undertake regular security patrols of parks, seafronts and open spaces.
• Providing a highly visible presence and a public point of contact.
• Locking seafront and park gates.
• Dealing with anti-social behaviour and enforcing bylaws.
• Inspect and report on the condition of facilities.
• Liaison with public, emergency services and council officers.
• Carrying out basic maintenance tasks.
Location – Working within parks, seafronts, woodlands & open spaces throughout the district.
The successful applicants will need to be able to work as part of a team as well as on their own initiative. You must have a background relative to the role and have a caring attitude towards the promotion of outdoor recreation, public health and safety and a customer care approach to work.
Applicants must possess a driving licence. The position will entail heavy lifting and working outdoors and therefore physical fitness is important.
